I put on my earbuds to relax. The library is cool and refreshing. Yet, it is the quietest place here. It had been years since I met Jungkook face-to-face during his internship.
I start to do my work while switching on my laptop. To prevent myself from forgetting him, I choose Jungkook's picture as my home screen. Then, the song changes. Blood, Sweat and Tears (BST). Jungkook's voice comes after his friend, Jimin.
His voice has changed. Mature and magnetic. And the most important, sexy. BST is the last song for BTS Wings album in 2016. And I loved it. As well as Fire. I even put Fire as my new ringtone!
Okay, enough excitements. Let's come back to what I am doing right now. I am doing Math, my favourite subject, but my hated chapter, Integrating Trigonometry. Damn, I have to remember the formulae like how I memorize the multiple table. In KINDERGARTEN. What a nightmare.
Suddenly, someone waved a hand in front of me and I blinked. I followed the hand and met his eyes once again.
"Jeo..J..J..Jung..!"
"Shh.." he is wearing a black mask..And before I can scream out his name, he stops me with an index finger. "I ran away from the girls," he whispered.
"Where's Jungkook? Hello, do you notice a tall Korean boy passing by?" There come the girls, asking the librarian for more information.
I put off my earbuds, ceasing myself from my inner world. He looks panicked, and his eyes pleads for my help. I leave my things there and take hold of his wrist. "Come with me."
As we are facing their backs, I choose the most urban place in the library. I knock the door as my friend is alone watching Tamil movies. "Rose, can we borrow this place for a minute?"
"Sure. Come in." She waves her hand at us. I quickly push him to drive him in. His height makes him duck while entering. Yeah, he is as tall as my cousin, Zack. In fact, their ages are the same and their faces are as shiny as blazing sunlight, which shines out my shadows entirely. Reminding me that I am not that kind of person who can enter their Realm of Models. I lower my head and feel a little sad.
"Rose, this is the boy I always talk about." I press the button on my phone and reveal the lock screen picture. Rose stares at the picture, then at Jungkook, measuring the index of similarity maybe. "It's really you." Although Rose isn't a big fan of K-pop, she still looks at Jungkook with her bewildered eyes.
"Ah, hi." greets Jungkook, a little embarrassed.
"Hi." Rose greets back with a smile.
I sigh while taking a seat. My muscle still tenses after the "escape". This is the last discussion room in the library. The entrance is blocked by sets and rows of purple couches. In fact, less people roams here. That is why my friend, Rose chooses here as her study place. Privacy and silence.
"It's cool here, like Busan." He looks at the glass shield which is covered by misty droplets.
"Ya, it's the coolest place in Malaysia." I rub my hands and place them on my cheeks.
"You're cold." Rose realizes my reaction and touches my hand, giving me warmth. Then, my neck is covered by some sort of fabric. I look down. A scarf.
"Thanks." I hope there is no one, especially the crazy fangirls passing by, or they will be jealous. However, our visions focus on the door when muffles of chitchats approach. Yup, they are coming. It must be some idiots had showed them the way. "Stand behind the door. Avoid your coats hanging by the glass, they might see you." I adjust his topcoat, hoping that he would understand.
"Okay." he whispers and half-squats with his clothes covered away well. I sit back in front of Rose, trying to have a simple conversation with her. At the same time, my heart also prays for Jungkook. The girls scan the discussion room with their sharp eyes. Jungkook scanning mode on. Luckily, they had detected nothing and gone whistle.
"Let's go search for the men's washroom." was the last thing we heard from them. "Wait!" Shit, I almost forget the scarf!!
I quickly unwrap the scarf and hide it. By the time when one of them returns and take a last look on us with suspicion, she has missed the part what I was doing, a second ago. I look back at her as she stares at us, raising up my chin often, gesturing questions with our eyes. The girls shrugs and walks away.
"They're gone. Come out." I pat at the empty seat next to me. As Jungkook clumsily takes the seat, I return the scarf to him. My face approaches his and I look at him suspiciously. "Why are you being chased? Where is your manager, umm?"
"Actually," Jungkook scratches his head. "I sneaked out. Jaykee, help me please. I will not ask anymore from you ever again." After he had finished this words, I feel a little disappointed and unwillingly. He remembers me anyway, which I'd thought he wouldn't.
I must say his memory is awesome.
I brace my chin and consider. I am not a good navigator. I always get lost in familiar places too. What if I lead Jungkook to some place forbidden here, will I get my marks deducted? Thousands of non-answered questions floats out in my mind, making me confused. Help or not?
His eyes are pleading me. There is no way for me to say no. Leading out a sigh, I nod. "Okay. Maybe if you treat me like an old friend, like we chitchat during our way out, the girls will avoid you." I'm a psychology student, but not that professional. I'm just a Foundation Student. But thinking of graduating during the second week of this February, I suppose to be excited for the holiday and wait for the results. If I disappear in the whole six months, will Jungkook be alone?
I punch my head. Why are you thinking this, JiaQi?! Focus!
"Skyler, are you okay?" This is how Rose used to call me.
"Oh yeah..I'm fine." I answer her awkwardly while looking at the chuckling boy. I roll my eyes. "Cut it out, kookie. It's not funny." But I titter.
